It is finished!
After many months of writing, thinking, praying and procrastinating, I am delighted to be able to say that ROCK is complete!
Alison Fuggle has come up with wonderful lyrics for many of the songs, and she is already at work on the Drama and Narrations.
Annie Routley, Chris King and Tim Jones are now working on the Backing Trax for the studio recording, and the Cast start rehearsals on Tuesday 29 Jan.
The final order of Songs is:
(1) ROCK OF AGES - up tempo setting of the old hymn
(2) IN CAESAREA BESIDE THE SEA - the story starts at the home of Cornelius (See Acts 10)
(3) WORKING IN THE FAMILY BUSINESS - the call of Peter and the disciples
(4) I WILL FOLLOW YOU - They leave their nets and follow Jesus
(5) YOU ARE MESSIAH - Peter declares the truth about Jesus
(6) IN THIS BREAD, IN THIS WINE - the last supper
(7) SURELY YOU MUST HAVE BEEN WITH HIM - Peter denies knowing Jesus
(8) THE LOOK OF LOVE -Peter's "best & worst of times"
(9) WERE YOU THERE? - the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus
(10) THIS IS THE PLACE - the disciples encounter the risen Jesus
(11) DO YOU LOVE ME? - Peter is challenged and restored
(12) A CHOSEN PEOPLE - the church is born at Pentecost
(13) JUST AS I AM - many become believers
(14) WORKING IN THE FATHER'S BUSINESS - the early church do what Jesus did
(15) IN CAESAREA BESIDE THE SEA (rep) - the gentiles become believers & receive the Spirit

Auditions have happened!
Last Tuesday (11 Dec) we held auditions for Soloists. It was a wonderful evening, we were thrilled with the standard of the ROCK auditions, but daunted by the enormity of the decisions we need to make!
Please pray that over the next few days God will make it clear to us about those he is calling to be part of the ROCK team, and in which roles. There are hard decisions to make, and whatever the outcome, each of these wonderful people will face great challenges and blessings ahead, whether in the Musical or not. God has promised to be with us, and we are greatly relying on that!

Light at the end of the tunnel
Over the last week or so the composing has been gaining momentum. I have now only 4 Songs to complete, and 2 of them are adapted reprises. I hope to have it all done by Christmas. We are already working on the Backing Tracks for 8 of them. (There will be 16 songs altogether.)
The Auditions are next Tuesday (Dec 11), and there are 17 candidates. It looks like a very high standard indeed and it will be a difficult decision. The main thing, however, is that we are led by God to know which ones he is choosing. PLEASE PRAY FOR US!
Helen is making good progress with planning the Tours. There are probably only 3 or venues to be sorted out, although, sadly, Leicester still seems to be missing out. If only an admin person(s) would come forward!

More progress and auditions getting near
I have finished two more songs this week, including a totally unexpected one. Thursday night, just before I was due to go out to meet with EBRG I had a new song idea.
Months ago Alison Fuggle sent me words for THE LOOK OF LOVE, (when Jesus looked at Peter across the courtyard after he had been arrested and Peter denied even knowing Jesus). Suddenly this "grabbed me" and within 24 hours I had almost completed a song which I am so thrilled with and reckon it might be a high-spot in the Musical. Watch this space!
We have just about completed the line-up for the AUDITIONS now, with about 18 folk being seen with a view to us finding 6 or 7 principal parts plus understudies. Please pray that God will make clear to us about his choice for the eventual team.

A very good week
This week I have completed another SONG. That makes six now, and my Producer Chris King has completed an initial audio mix of four of them. It's always a great relief when you get on a run.
As the AUDITIONS approach (Dec 11) we are receiving a higher than usual volume of applications and enquiries. This is good news, but please pray that we may discern God's plan in alll this.
One negative issue - it's looking less likley now that we will be able to have our usual large production at LEICESTER. No Organiser(s) are coming forward, even though there is always a huge choir. It will be very sad if this happens, but we can only go where the right "doors" open.
